Hi Guys & Gals.
Yesterday the fishing as always was slow.
Some blackfish were caught on the North Jetty at Island Beach State Park.
Fluke fishing from the beach in the inlet was slow yesterday.
By the North Jetty is where you wanted to be due to the west wind and the
flies which were atrocious north of area 23 to Gillikins, Jess and a few friends
of ours left the beach by 10 AM because of this, as we all know this time of the
year when we have a west wind or no wind at all we'll have flies, it's been
going on for years and we cannot change this , either sit close to the water
with a good insect spray or wear long pants .
Another issue, we have been seeing lots of dead sand sharks and sea
robins on the beach which happens every July & August, please release
these fish as you would any other game fish, their here for a reason.
The Casino fishing Pier was red hot for fluke fishing yesterday, the ratio
was for about every 50-60 fish caught , not a keeper all throw backs,
thanks to our regulations, if the size limit was 16 1/2 you could have kept a
few,( it is what it is, I was told every now and again a few small schools of
snapperblues about 3" went through ,,my cousin Frankie and his wife to be were hooking up with
snappers and fishing for fluke, live snappers are the best bait you can use for
fluke , they were also using squid strips.
Today we have a light east wind, We might take a ride to Island Beach State
Park to check on conditions, flies should not be to bad.
As we all know the gas prices went up again, so we'll not be driving the
beach like last week.
Good Luck To All.
Always Remember !
Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow a mystery.
Today is a gift.
That's why it's called the present!
We can never say what's going to happen with our dear old mother nature.
The Best of Luck To All & Please Stay Happy & Healthy.
Guppie & Don.
