Hi Guys & Gals.
It's really way past my bed time, but it was important for me to post
today's fishing report.
We headed out about 1 PM to Island Beach State Park, fished from 2-5 PM at area 15 only to have Don hook up with one short striper.
We decided to pack it in for the night, till I bugged Don to head to Gillikins, on the way there we
spotted one man hooking up with one fish, we watched for a few minutes, next cast he
Hooked another Bass, these bass were about 30 lbs or maybe a bit better.
We started heading towards the bathing beach and noticed what looked like a bunch of white caps, to our surprise it was a
huge school of bunker with bass busting water.
One cast from Don he had a huge Striper on weighing 34.7 lbs on a Tony white popper.
I decided to use one of Glitter plug Rons silver and hooked a nice 24 lb striper, then before I knew it Don was hooked up again..
The I was again on Rons swimmer plug, After two fish I just gave up but enjoyed taking pictures .
There were very few anglers in this area at this time.
We decided to drive out of Gillikins , well to our surprise it was non stop fishing, We lost count on the throw backs.
This lasted 1 1/2 hours.
We decided to drive out knowing that these fish were heading south.
We made it to area 7 a little south, Oh well there were the bunker and stripers again, bunker beaching.
I have seen fish in the 30-40 - and a few about 50 lbs being caught.
we were to tired we left the fish biting.
I found out about 4 PM that they also had stripers in the pocket @ Island Beach State Park, from what I was told most in the pocket on the North Jetty.
In my opinion , if the wind stays the same I think tomorrow will be another good day.
Way to many bunker & fish coming and going.
If any one is interested Grumpy's Bait & Tackle does carry Glitter
plug Rons plugs.
No Big fish on clams as what we did see all on artificial lures.
I would still recommend bringing along clams and fresh bunker.
Good Luck and Good Night To All.
Guppie & Don
