Fin Whale Strands in Long Branch

A sub-adult 49 foot Fin Whale stranded in Long Branch on
the morning of 7/6/08. The animal had been reported earlier in the week floating
18 miles off Barnegat Inlet. It was severely decomposed when it reached shore
near President's Park in Long branch. The whale had fractured bones and
hemorrhaging indicative of a ship strike.
One thing I can not understand, if these dead whales are seen off shore, why wait for it to hit our clean local beaches?
here id another day in July when a fin whale washed up.
In my opinion I don't think the whale that washed up at IBSP was hump back whale, we all need anglers to reconize all marine life fish and mamals.
Like any thing else I am a animal lover, especially dogs.
I love the ocean and the beach , most are trying to keep it clean,A week or so ago a big turtle washed in by the Casino fishing pier, I was told it was buried in the sand??
I don't know if this is true or not, but a few anglers said that there were people from where ever and who ever they were cutting up this whale at IBSP this afternoon and dumping it in to a dumpster,if so is this the right way to rid of this ? Back to the fishing reports it is the same as was for the past few weeks, hopefully some thing will happen soon.,br> good Luck To All.
