Hi Guys & Gals.
We took a ride to Island Beach state park yesterday, left the beach just
before dark, caught I hooked on sea robin on a Grumpys clam, That was it .I
fished for 4 straight hours fishing by the pocket.
I did see a good amount of tiny sea bass caught and released, one angler
hooked a decent size trigger fish in the inlet.
The angler I talked about yesterday who faithfully goes out every day
fishing for fluke had one keeper, his ratio is now 11 keepers out of 408 Fluke ,
WOW this is sad.
I am highly recommending if your going to the beach this weekend to
make sure you bring along white gulps for fluke or green crabs, Bunker
chunks& mullet for Bluefish , clams if you want to play with
catch and release baby Sea bass, use a Sea bass rig with a tiny piece of clam,
just about drop your line by the rocks and bounce it as soon as you feel a pull,
pull your line in fast , these sea bass will hit and go back under the rocks
fast, then you lose your rig, they are fun to catch and release.
Another issue..
Congress mandated that a registry must be in place by 2011, and the National
Marine Fisheries Service has proposed registration for all saltwater anglers
before fishing in 2009, what's wrong with the system? I honestly don't see
there's nothing wrong with having to buy a fishing license I don't think this
should apply for kids and seniors ) We all understand
most states require a salt water and fresh license water Most states
require them...and there's nothing wrong with limited catches or having to
report them... do we all honestly think every one is going to report their
catch?
Not to mention registration fee of $15 to $25 being suggested for 2011, In my
opinion think this is nuts.
We got screwed this year with the fluke big time, in my opinion, (Black fish
when the fish are spawning in the spring should be a 1 per day limit, now should
be a bag 8 limit, Let the ma ma's spawn the muffins in the spring so we'll have
more fish, why kill 8 blackfish then.
Most anglers I know catch and release lots of fish, take home one or two
stripers to eat per season, some just catch and release, some like to take the
spawners in the spring to just to weigh them in for money in fishing
tournaments, do these anglers know how many 30, 40 , 50 lbers they are killing
for tournaments, how many babies they are they killing ?
Anglers have spent hundreds of dollars this year fishing at Island
Beach State park hoping just to catch one keeper Bass, one keeper fluke,
it's been the worst year for surf anglers in our area, and yet we have to
consider paying a registration fee in 2011.
