Lots of anglers are complaining including Don & I that the crabs are taking the bait as soon as we get it out, We this is not always the case, I have been getting reports that we have King Fish in our area as well as some fluke, try switching to king fish rigs and fluke rigs.
Yes some fluke were caught while anglers fishing with a 8/0 hi lo bass rig, if this is so they were lucky this means that most of our bait can be taken by either king Fish or fluke as well as the crabs .

There is more fish then Blues and Bass in our clean ocean, you just need the right hooks and bait to catch them.
Fresh bunker can be very costly, I would recommend bringing along some mullet and mackerel , Mackerel chunks stay on better then bunker chunks, to cut your cost for those who use bunker heads, Crab bunker heads work just as well for stripers.
Just in case the bunker do come in close to shore, stop at your local tackle shop and get a few bunker snagers, you might be glad you had them with you .
We do have another great day coming, a nice west wind at about almost 1-5, so I highly recommend bringing along some repellant, Flies at day time and Mosquitoes at night.
Island Beach State Park is the worst for these creatures, You can always go to Seaside Park or Seaside Heights after the life guards leave to fish ,there are less flies if any at all.
Island Beach is a convenient place to drive on, but the fishing has not been good at all there lately, unless your at the right time right place and you have the money for gas to drive the 8 miles of beach looking for fish or bait.
For some crazy reason these Stripers along with the bunker has been staying just a little far out of reach, The boats are doing real good .
A west wind in June and July and I just don’t agree.

Lets all hope the wind will switch soon to a light N-East even a South East for the weekend , this can even push the fish and bit in close and heat up the ocean..

I have just received 5 calls, that anglers who already went to IBSP have left in a hurry, the flies are extremely hungry, One angler said before he even got to set up, he got in his truck and left in a hurry, He left his pole holder behind LOL.
Years ago IBSP use to spray this area, because they claim it’s a poison for the wild life and no longer are they permited to do so , how about the state taking money from the people and sending them in , with a warning, fly bites can be a poison for some anglers as well especially children, so for the bathers with children who are not aware of the fly situation, they already unloaded their cars from the bathing pavilion , headed on the beach, now they realize hey these flies are bad, got to pack up and leave , Hopefully the small children did not get bit to much in this process,.
If you heading to the beach try the docks for crabbing, I was told that the crabs bit is picking up.
