Hi Guys & Gals.
As far as I was told by many passing anglers today was a bit quiet, some stripers were caught on clams, but you had to sit and wait a long time for a bite.
We arrived @ Island Beach about 5 PM, We set up, waited till about 6:30 on or about this time, when all the sudden Dons rod bent, it was sure enough a big stripers, a few of Bob McGinelys friends watched as this striper stripped Dons line, you can see the tail, this fish just kept on running out, Don had almost no line on, he had no choice either have the line snap by the reel or take a chance and try to slow this huge striper Down, Thank goodness it broke by the swivel, it was a big Striper and Gave Don a good run, It happened twice, the line bent to the sand the second time, maybe it was a big Drum, but it sure fought like a Bass, better luck next time Don, as always the big one got away.
I have received call from Area 23 to the North Jetty as soon as it got dark and the change of tide the Bass fishing turned on like crazy, we also had a 27 ½ “ striper which I caught & released, Don then hooked a 26” striper, a few croakers which We gave to Camper Bill, croakers were 1 1’2 – 1 ¾ lbs, thanks to Robert McGinely Sr He weighed them.
Camper Bill hooked a few shorts plus a 30” striper , a few croakers.a little south of area 23 striper, when further North of area 7 HamBone Hooked a nice 28 ¾ “ Striper.
This time of the year it’s hard for me to take pictures in the dark, those who have my Cell Phone Number will call me and we’ll meet some where.
Hopefully we’ll have some nice day time pictures when the tide gets better during the day.
I got a Call from a few more anglers same thing Happened North of Seaside Heights, the Bass turned on just after dark and the change of tide, some anglers had to leave because they ran out of clams.
For some reason not many fish were caught on plugs today.
It’s sure another strange year, croakers October 31st???/.
I took the ocean Temp it was 61 degrees this evening.
I was told bluefish was the catch on the tip of the north Jetty, nothing so big before dark, what ever happened after dark I have no idea.
We left the beach just about 8 PM, it was way to dark to see what we were doing, tomorrow We”ll be more prepared with some DECENT LIGHTS AND LUNKER LIGHTS FOR THE POLES for tomorrow
The wind did indeed pick up tonight, it switch to a South East about 15, but the Stripers and croakers did not seem to mind.
Best time to fish this week, which We all know this can change
#1 Change of the tides.
#2 Just before Dark
# 3 Just after dark.
# 4 Just before sun up.
Clams seem to be producing more striper action then plugs, these fish are just cruising looking for food.
Don's fish was loaded with Calico crabs last night , Ryan ( Big LilFishermans Bass was as well loaded with calico crabs.
This tells me the Bass are bottom feeding and hungry.
The Best Of Luck To All & Good Night>
Guppie & Don.
I hope this report is informational & will help some of you anglers.
NOW GET OUT & KICK SOME BASS @$$.
