Guppie's NJ Fishing Web - October 31-2006 Halloween Day, Guppies Up Date Fishing Report

Hi Guys & Gals,
Went to Island Beach State just knowing & Hoping the fishing was going to be great, no blitzing but I can honestly can We had almost a steady pick of Stripers for the most part of the afternoon till after dark., it was great , very few birds working, just a bunch of bait chasers, We stuck with the bait, and we were almost all rewarded, most anglers were using bunker snaggers, and did rather well, they would snag a bunker and let it drop, it started at the bathing beach and ended up by area 23, before we knew it We were back at the bathing beach when just before dark Bass started rolling, Don hooked a 30” striper, we had a mix of shorts and some real nice keepers with a few bluefish about 6-10 lbs mixed in, the bass out numbered the blues again today .fro about every 15 Stripers caught , maybe 1 bluefish was caught , Not bad aaaaaaaaaaaay...
I also did see quite a few anglers drop some nice stripers right in the wash, why ?I was watching a few, they were trying to pull the fish in against the waves, we had a trough in some areas, always bring the fish I with the waves coming in, not when the waves are moving out wards, I would say in my opinion some of these fish that broke off right in the suds were at least 20-25 lbers, .
Again I did not fish , I enjoyed taking pictures and watching anglers just enjoy the day,

I Have 7 days a week to fish , plus I am mainly a bait person, sit & relax watch the ocean, in a few weeks I’ll do this ..
It was so nice to see many , many anglers out today enjoying this fantastic sport.
Lots of Bass were also caught on fresh clams.
