One Issue I forgot to mention , lots and lots of big skates today ! Hi Guys & Gals.
We drove to Island Beach State Park from Gillikins to the North Jetty, plugged in some areas, not even a nibble, saw some sea robins caught a few small bluefish one on the North Jetty and two 3 surf fishing on the beach, the ocean was still a bit cloudy & Calm, holding with a 5 oz sinker,
A good amount of Anglers were fishing the north Jetty, birds working by the point, the only fish I saw caught was about an 3-6 lb bluefish from the jetty, I was told action on the north Jetty was slow for the most part of the day.
One Stripers caught that I know of a 28” by one of my members Wilson an surf angler.
On the other hand like I said good action in my early report most action was in Lavallette this afternoon on clams.
The beach felt a bit strange this after noon ,it was a feeling I get, calm before the storm type, I would say we might have some super action tomorrow, just common sense I guess, a wild guess, I can smell a bait like scent by from the light ocean breeze, usually when I smell this bunker smell their in the area we have good fishing in a day or so..
I did not see any big schools of bait, some small schools which looked like either spearing or some kind of rain fish, a few time fish came up on these small schools , it lasted for a minute then they were gone .
I have not received any reports on Lavallette after 5 PM, but I can tell you the source I got it from is an extremely reliable angler, which often calls me with creditable reports.
I posted a few pictures in my gallery on the way it was @ Island Beach State Park this after noon, plenty of anglers were out fishing , not mobbed by all means but enough for a Monday afternoon..
Till tomorrow morning .
Good Luck To All And Good Night .
Sorry I did not have a more possitive report to give, I do my best ,
It is what it is .
