Hi Guys & Gals.
Just another beautiful day at Island Beach State Park,. From Area 23 south one truck, only 5 trucks at the Inlet all afternoon, a few came and left . I saw 2 fluke caught , one in the inlet a nice fatty, a little bigger the 18", this angler pulled up, He made one cast with a lt. green gulp worm with a teaser that looked like it had a long thin black sand ells on and hooked a nice fluke . Mean while Mike was fishing the pocket with a striper rig, 8/0 hook and a big herring chunk hooked a nice fat fluke 17.11"..so shy of a keeper, what a pity, and netters can keep fluke at 14"?? something is wrong with our system for sure. Mike did indeed release this fish . Other then that, I did see in the wash which looked like sea herring to me .
Ocean temp went up to 59 degrees . Ocean was a little rough, holding with a 6 oz sinker, ocean was clean, a little weed .
The wind was South east when we arrived, flies were not bad, but I got hit yesterday and today with about 30 bites, as soon as the wind switch to south west about 3:30. About 5 PM I'm not so sure about the time, a few small bluefish were caught in the inlet on buck tail with a white worm. No one on the North Jetty, a few anglers walked in the back to fish? The best I can do for today, the beach was like a ghost town once again.
The best of Luck To All.
