Just spoke to a few anglers who are at the pocket @ island Beach State Park,This minute , a few 16 1/2" fluke are being caught in the inlet on white gulps and were released. A hand full of guys are netting mullet and it just started to pick up, lots are being caught, so those of you who live local and would like to get some fresh mullet the run has begun get out there . Don't forget your mullet nets, the out going tide is always good for netting, I was told the mullet are right in the wash so far no fish on them, but heeeeeeeey any thing can happen.. Guppie
Updated 3:25 PM .Hi Guys & Gals. I did just get a few calls from Island Beach State park anglers, the ones who fished the pocket from 11 Am till just now saw 1 small cocktail blue caught, Charlie my tree man just called he's about 200 yards north of the inlet and just spotted fish busting water way beyond reach. Anglers are walking around with mullet nets some scored some did not.
I was told that both Peanut bunker and a ton of Mullet was being caught at A15 on the bay side yesterday and Friday.
By the inlet the water looks a bit clean the further north you go the browner it gets.
Now this is all second hand information which comes from the most reliable anglers. I got a call from one angler all excited , He said Blues are busting all over the place, bait spraying, I tend to not believe him, He said blues were blitzing, an hour later He called and said he could not catch a fish they swam out to deeper water????I did not post this because I spoke to other anglers who were fishing close to where he was and said it was dead.
What I am trying to say, I only post from my great anglers who I trust and believe in and I Always get a second report from some one else before I jump the gun. Don had some medical issues we had to deal with, once hopefully tomorrow we'll be able to get out . Speaking of tomorrow, I think this might be a great day, if not, I would say by Tuesday we'll have some action, I will keep you posted and stay on top of these fishing reports especially this time of the year.
Fluke season is over tomorrow till 2009, I still say they should extend fluke season till October 1st. with a 4 bag limit per day and 16 1/2 " The Best Of Luck To All.

2nd Up Date Report Ok, Cuz Frankie just called checked out the Seaside park & Heights area for us ,he ussally fishes the Casino Pier on weekends, he said there are birds diving way beyond reach, the ocean is a bit stired up, and is dirty. There are splashes He said it is to far out to see , But He thinks it can be huge schools of adult bunker.
The ocean Temp is 71 degrees now, still a bit warm for good striper action, unless the bait comes in then we might have a good chance.
I think from what we were told we'll hold off till tomorrow.
A west wind & I just don't agree this time of the year.
It's gorgeous out it's a great day for sunbathers and relaxing.
Lots of Surfers are out, Seaside heights is pretty much deserted as far as the watching the Seaside Heights web cam. BTW, Seaside Heights crab House supplies this web cam, I yet to call them and have a banner put on my web at no cost for his dedicatioin for all my members to watch, maybe some might even go there and give this restraunt a little business as well, I was told the food is great. Sunday 9-07-08@ 10:30 AM Guppies Beach & Fishing Report
Hi Guys .
I did get reports on all conditions from Island Beach State park. We still have a current, it's low tide now just starting to come in, from what I was told from area 1to area 19 there are birds working and fish busting water, but way out of casting reach, 5 anglers said it bluefish. Holding with a 6-8 oz sinker. Ocean Temp is a nice 73 degrees. The water is a bit dirty. I did get reports that a few dig fish( Sand sharks were seen being caught . As far as big waves this morning it's hard to tell being that it's low tide, we just have to see what the high tide looks like .
it would be nice if these bluefish would come with in casting reach, but one can never tell. Either these blues are on bait or common sense might say they are feeding on what ever broke loose from the strong currents, could be the two.
As I said in yesterdays report that this so called storm was not going to last long and it did not, Last weeks report I said the mullet run started last September 8th.
I was told that there were mullet again in the inlet and the back bay of Island Beach State Park, but who cares until the blues start feeding on mullet. Just make sure you all bring along your casting nets, put them in your truck, and please lets all respect our fellow anglers who fish the pocket with bait or artificial not to walk or run in front of these anglers with your net and cast where they are fishing., We need some mullet to stay in this area to attract the fish.
One fall I went out helping my boss at that time chasing a school of mullet from Gillikins to area 23 I drove his red truck as he was hitting in to the same school for three solid hours, when I asked him why the school is not breaking up, he said, always remember this, if your following a big school of mullet, go a head of where the mullet are heading, always hit the back of the school, this will not indeed spook the school of mullet, well sure enough He had more mullet then we knew what to do with, the school ended up by the pocket at Island Beach State Park and before we knew it we had a bluefish blitz, every one fishing were in to Stripers and bluefish, a few weakfish and fluke as well, We all had a ball, Then John which was one of the most respectable netters I knew, the best at this time said, that's what I do.
If you throw your net in to the middle of the school the mullet will break up and go else where.
Just remember we need the bait to attract the fish, if people start running in to the water like a heard of bulls like last fall, breaking up the schools, it will chase the mullet out and we'll not have a great season. We more then likely will head out to IBSP this afternoon and will be back with a report. Don had some surgery Wednesday and is doing fine now .
The best Of Luck To All. Guppie
