Hi Guys & Gals.
All hell broke lose today, bunker came in close enough from Seaside Heights to Island Beach State Park, no blitz by all means, anglers were snagging Moss Bunker and hooking up with bluefish between 9-15 Lbs.
No Bunker beaching at Island Beach they were just about with in casting range at times , moving up and down from area 12- 17.
The Stripers fishing was slow all over between 2pm & 4 PM lots of rats today, thats if you want to compare it to the Bluefish action, the ratio was for every 7 Bluefish caught maybe one short Striper was caught Early most stripers were caught on clams, some on live bunker, all between 18" - 24, Maybe a few keepers , not that any one saw or heard of today , but it can happen any day with all this bunker coming through.
I was told by Fun town Pier and by The Casino Fishing Pier not on it , a few small Stripers were caught as well as some bluefish, most of the good bluefish action was from area 12 -17 @ Island Beach State Park. and lasted from 9 AM - dark, We left the fish still hitting.
There were not many Striperscaught in this bunker spritz untill about 4 PM, most stripers were caught on artificial plugs at this time ,some of the bunker were bigger then the Stripers. Most stripers early evening were caught on storm shads, I know I was there. Anglers were having a blast with the big bluefish. Man that power pro might be good, but once it crosses and tangles with another line it can sure make a tangled mess, I watch this happen 5 times today.
