  Guppies fishing reportMary Anne,
Thanks for the posting of the tournament.
We could not postpone the tournament. In the ASAC series of fishing tournaments, there are tournaments lined up against each other and all dates are taken up.
It was either canceling it do to safety reasons or doing it. 36 teams showed up (180 anglers) and they wanted to fish.
So we did the latter.
We then closed it down early for safety reasons. The North end of the beach was getting bad and we cut it off at 11am. This was also suggested by some of the ASAC leaders and fishermen. I was personally amazed that 36 teams showed up! I believe it had something to do with the great prizes we had. This was some of the feed back I received.

As for the cash prizes. By ASAC rules, we were entitled to keep the prize money and Calcutta monies if fish were not caught. However, we (HRFA tournament committee) decided to give away several hundred dollars to anglers that went through that hard weather day by free raffle.

This was done even though they caught no fish. We also did this with the largest fish and most fish raffles with another $200.00 given out even though there were no fish. We are also going to make a donation (undetermined $$ yet) to the town of Seaside Park and the ASAC kids programs.
. All other door and big prize raffles went off and EVERYONE there in attendance at the awards ceremony went home with a gift.
Again, thanks for the postings.
We are expecting a bigger turnout next year if mother nature co operates. Thanks.
