Forgot to put this in yesterday. Started in the dark at Gillikins, there was only one truck at the road so I fished the hole there. Did nothing so I started working my way down the beach with no luck. By first light I was at my favorite spot, the bait was there, the birds were there but the fish weren't. Went a little past the bathing area where I saw Frankie and Big Ed nailing bass. Started throwing an Ava and did nothing till Frankie told me they were using Mambo Minnows. Put on a green Mambo and got two hits right away then a fish. By now the sun was up pretty high so I went back up the beach and put out bait. Got six nice sized shorts including a 27 and a 27 1/2.
This time of year you can't leave the beach early. Some days the fish start in the dark and stop when the sun comes up, others they don't start till the sun is up. Don
