Hey Guys.
Last night from 6 am this morning there was great bass fishing,
although most shorts from Brick beach to Lavallette.
Card shop and Ryan Haines
fished from 9 PM - 6 AM, scored with many shorts and three keepers.
Today was
another story, we fished Gillikins from about 8 AM- about 2 PM, Don had many
short stripers on clams. Many other anglers were fishing and hooking up, most
throw back , lots 27 1/2" stripers.
This morning Guy managed to hook lots
of shorts with 2 nice keepers as well south of area 7. At Gillikins Bob O'Brien
a hooked a nice 87.4 LB black drum just a short distance from where we were, Bob
seemed to be fishing on a bar with a good amount of water,
He did a great job
with all the rough currents and rough water we had working this fish in, what a
hell of a fight. nice
job Bob
It was cold and chilly, lots of rain for the most part of the morning, a
east wind about 15, this did not seem to bother the fish at all.
I was told by
the best sources that Lavallette and Brick Beach had stripers till dark, most of
these fish were caught on Avas with teasers as I was told lots of shorts, a good
amount of keepers were caught as well in scattered areas along the shore line
from Lavallette to Island Beach State park.. The bass season is here, please
don't let the rain and wind stop you .
If you plan on fishing clams, you must
bring about 3 dozen, trust me, we well fed many crabs in between catching Bass,
My Buddy Steve hooked a nice bluefish on bunker I gave him, last week a angler
gave me three vacuum packed bunker which he said he bought At Betty and Nicks, I
kept them on ice till I found some one who wanted to use Bunker.
It was most
certainly a cold wet day as well as a fun day. I would have had more pictures if
the anglers were not scattered a distance and it was not raining.
Good Luck and Hey all of you great anglers who challenged this bad weather today I hope most scored with a keeper, you all deserved it . Guppie & Don
