Hi Guys & Gals.
Early evening last night about 7 PM My dear friend "CHARLES
GARTLAN & HIS SON TOMMY decided to take the kayak out in to the bay at area
15 @ Island Beach State Park. As they were coming back in , in about 2-3 feet of
water about 100 feet from land, about8:50 PM. , they hooked a 20" striper,
and a nice Bluefish 30.5" 9.5 pounds which was weighed in at Grumpys bait
& Tackle, fish was caught on a popper.
I have heard of other anglers hooking up just before and after dark in
this area. Today at Island Beach State Park Scott Adams and his three friends
all had a nice black fish, Scott hooked a nice 3 lb trigger fish on the North
Jetty. From what I was told they had to release some other nice keepers, as we
all know your only allowed one fish per person per day, sad isn't it ?
I was also told that a few nice stripers were caught on the bay side before
sun up this morning. A good amount of herring was being caught on the ocean side
this morning, you need a shad dart to hook these babies.
I did get a report from Cape May, a few friends are vacationing there, they
said that they are getting some nice size brown sharks at night after dark.
We had a lot of grass in the inlet late this afternoon. I was told that this
morning Gillikins was loaded with grass, south of Gillikins was not so bad.
The ocean did clean up a bit from yesterday.
Don & I took a rife about 4 PM to Island Beach State Park, by the
inlet we had a nice south breeze. It was hot & humid all over today.
From area 23 south, many anglers were enjoying the weather, not many rods were out in the water, like the old Grump is -always saying, you can't catch a fish with a Dry hook.
The best of luck to all..
Guppie & Don
