Hi Guys & Gals. I have received many e-mails from caring & concerned anglers wondering what happened to me October & November. To make a short story short, after working in bait shops, picking up heavy clam bushels, taking a few falls on the beach, I did have a few herniated disks, which finally ruptured, not knowing what was wrong, early September after suffering for three years with bad leg pain and not being able to walk a long distance with out much pressure on my back, I finally went to two orthopedic Doctors, both said I needed to have an operation, thinking it was only L-1-2 & 3 disk.
They said a three hour maybe 4 hour operation, well little did I know after donating two unites of my own blood, which they used in the operating room, 7 1/2 hour of surgery and having to remove L12345 disk, the operation turned out great so far, I am still recovering slowly. Well I have to have 6 more unites of blood, I was losing blood some where, where, no one knew, my blood count drooped to a 8.2, I have three secondary infections, lots of IV iron and antibiotics through IV, after coming home I had a bad sore throat, now I just got a bad chest cold, it'll take a little while to get my strong,I lost a good amount of weight which was the only good thing about this whole ordeal, My heart is fine, not a problem through the whole ordeal, thank god. I just happened to chose all my Doctors to Indian Doctors, and trust me, they gave me the best of care and still are taking good care of me, the best move I ever made was switching over. I am walking, doing light house work, going to the store doing a little shopping, Thanks to my great husband Don which has been a great help to me. I am real sorry for not answering all these concerned e-mails, I am trying to put this night mare behind me , 29 days in the hospital was a night mare trust me, By Spring time I should be fine, I just have to learn to relax and not push or pick up any thing heavy for a while .
Right now I have good days and bad days, when I over do it I hurt a bit,
If any of you remember a few years ago while taking pictures, there was a little drop about 1 1/2 feet, I was not watching where I was walking, fell down this small drop, I did feel a pop in my back, that's when I lost my cell phone and my camera, this fall I was trying to hold a big log from washing in the ocean, I want to thank all you anglers who helped me at these bad times, again I want to thank all you anglers who came in to Barrier Island when I got a clam delivery in and helped put the sacks in the refrigerator. My illness was not a secret I was keeping from all you anglers I just thought I'd keep the reports to fishing only, this was an easy way for me I just can't sit that long right now to answer all these get well mails and explain what happened. A good 12" cut on my back which is pretty much sore now, time heals every thing.
Lots of small stripers have been caught this morning and yesterday on artificial plugs, any thing that looks like a sand eel, I was told yesterday morning was not that productive, it picked up in the afternoon. Most of these fish are in between 15"- 26". most of your bigger stripers are being caught on boats in deeper water. These little guys are still around with a keeper here and there at times. I still say they should change the regulations with two @ 24-28", one tag over 28". All these spring fish are all spawners, Maybe from March to May change the limit to 24"-33" stripers throw back all the bigger fish, keep the bigger one's in the fall, Just my opinion, I guess weighing these big spawers in for tournaments are more important then the breeding.? Good Luck To All & Good Night . Guppie
