Hi Guys & Gals. We spent most of the afternoon at Island Beach State Park, it was a OK day for bluefish, a few scattered from the Inlet to Gillikins. I have only heard of one striper being caught by D-Mag, if you view this slide show I would Say he had a good few days of catching stripers up to 22 lbs all caught on bunker.
Today He manage to hook a nice 33" striper weighing 11 Lbs, D-mag is one of our many great die hard anglers , a real respectable person as well, Nice fish Dennis.. The wind switched to a South East today at about 15, it was a bit chilly once the wind switched, this morning many anglers fished which I was told by many it was spotty, except for Gillikins which seems to be the place for good bluefish action, the further north at gillies the less fish for some crazy reason. I was also told that Mondays good fishing was also south of area 23 as well, I only heard about this, up till today. I just get a feeling, smelling the scent of bunker and the water being as nice , clean and pretty much calm, it feels like calm before the storm, In my opinion I think we'll have some good action this weekend, especially before & After the rain., just a wild guess and a feeling. Stock up on enough bait, we have many hungry crabs out there, with in a few minutes after throwing your line out the crabs steal the bait before the fish get a chance to see it, this can be one of the problems why not as many fish are being caught, check your line a few times, don't expect to sit and wait for your pole to bounce, because you might be watching a pole that has no bait , I know we have done this plenty times. If you should just hook a calico crab, throw your line back out with the crab, Stripers love these crabs.
Some bluefish had whole squids in their bellies, the bigger the chunk of bait you use the better chance you'll hook either a striper or a bluefish. The best of Luck To All, we'll be out Sunday late morning .
Today I was told that the boats were picking up some nice stripers in Bayhead and Point Pleasant. I was also told that in the Ortley Beach Area from the surf stripers were being caught Today as well. The Best Of Luck To All. Guppie
