Hi Guys & Gals. We fished Gillikins from 1PM - 6 PM, hooked one bluefish about 8 lbs on yesterdays bunker we bought at Grumpys.
I did see about 6 other blues caught from as far south and north of Gillikins. We fished about half way from the entrance - the bathing area.
I was told that this morning the wind was blowing West And it absolutely gorgeous out till about 12 PM. When We got there the wind switch to a South East which made it a bit chilly. No Signs of any bait fish, I checked the ocean Temp it was 51 degrees this afternoon from the surf. by the time we left the beach about 6 Pm, most of the anglers who were fishing prior to our arrival were as well leaving, in my opinion I would say it was a slow day, these every half hour you would see some one pull in a bluefish. The strangest thing I did notice if I saw 5 birds it was a lot. I don't know what was going on North of Gillies, but a good amount of anglers were fishing there, if you walk about 500 yards north there is a nice hole there . As we were leaving just in time for a few regular anglers I don't get along with and would like to keep it that way were on their way in to Gillies, so what ever happened after we left we'll never know the truth., the hush hush gang.
We'll be out tomorrow to get a report in for the weekend, we'll be on the beach for a short time Saturday morning and for as long as we want Sunday, this was I'll be able to get accuate reports out for those who have to drive a long distance just to fish. My Advise to all, either call your local tackle shop and pay with plastic or take a chance on every one being out of bunker, get your bunker a head of time, the whole Island was out late morning till mid afternoon.
