Hi Guys & Gals. Because of the different opinions we all have on fishing for stripers now in the bays & rivers, which we all should know are of limits till March 1st. We should all follow he regulations, which some don’t and I have no control over, I have had nothing but a few problems with a few local anglers who started early this month with the spot burning garbage again, I was bashed on a certain forum, So I thought it would be the best interest if I don’t post till March 1st. Once March 1st comes, I will continue to do daily reports as I always have, I will give areas, post truthful reports and continue to keep all my members posted on all fishing activities. For those who don’t like the way I post I would highly suggest you not reading my reports. Guppies web site is a fishing report web site, not a gossip, slandering , bashing sight, I am here to share information and hoping more anglers will share information to all our fellow anglers. For those who like speckle trout, which are almost like a weakfish and some anglers think they are weakfish, these fish are being caught in the area of Forked River evenings and early mornings. Some of the anglers on boats are targeting for stripers which should not be permitted till March 1st. Another issue I was told which was kept quiet for a week for the simple reason anglers fishing in this area which is by the power plant witnessed 100s of dead bluefish last week, non reported to the fish & game, among the blues were some dead Stripers as well because it might ruin these catch and release stripers fishing...
As of March 1st 2008 I will be doing daily reports. I was also told second hand information that stripers are starting to hit the Long Branch area. Last week, all shorts.
Just remember the anglers who know and are hooking lots of stripers in the forked River area, remember these fish are spawning and should be left alone, some that are being released might make it, some might not be so lucky. These Stripers are averaging from 28’-about 33” as I was told.
The real strange thing about this issue, some of these anglers are the one’s who complained to me many times and bashed my reports???
Talking about being caring die-hard anglers, I hope you all get caught by the game wardens. The Best Of Luck To All.
BTW, a few friends of mine went to the super marker and bought some live mussels and did well with the speckle trout, There are loads of mussel beds in this area which is in the area of Oyster Creek, I guess this is what the speckle trout are feeding on as well as the weakfish are. Guppie
