Hi Guys & Gals, We arrived at Island Beach State Park about 8:15 AM this morning, stopped at grumpy Bait & Tackle.
He gave me a dozen of clams and said Good Luck Guppie, well his wishing me good luck and his clams gave me an early Christmas present, Don hooked a 28 ½ striper, nice going Don. The ocean was very angry this morning, real strong currents, higher then normal tides, holding with a 8-10 oz sinker at high tide. & Some mighty big waves , The incoming tide seemed to have been productive this morning, once the tide was slack at high the fishing turned off. Other then that we caught enough shorts to let us know the fishing is not over with. This is my Christmas present to all you anglers who are thinking about fishing this weekend, go for it for a few hours, it was lightly drizzling this morning dark and cloudy, the fish were active, as soon as the sky started to brighten up and the tide started to go out , it was time to leave, for all this is worth.. The fish was weighed in and measured at Grumpy’s Bait & tackle, normally I don’t weigh a small fish in like this, but it made the old Grump smile. From Gilikins to as far as we can see there were only three other trucks and an angler My dear friend Jess fishing , We drove to the bathing beach before we left, jess had it all to himself.. Good Luck To All. Guppie PS: I did post a few pictures in my gallery of the fish and the ocean conditions at high tide .
