Fishing NewsWent down to the jetty and the inlet had bluefish of all sizes. There were also little schools of bunker running along the rocks to get away from the bluefish.
Went back up the beach to feed clams to the blowfish on the outgoing tide. A few people had bass but not me.
On the way out the sign saying no vehicles was up at 7 so they must be closing the bathing area a week early this year. Don

Fishing NewsI just got a call saying IBSP will open from area 23 to the jetty on Friday. The park will now be open 24/7.

Island Beach State Park will be open for fishing access 24 hours per day and to the inlet jetty effective May 17th at 6:30 am. Vehicles can not be driven south of the fence placed just north of the inlet jetty. For further information, please contact the park office. Or look at

Fishing NewsChilly day at the beach today. There was a south wind that was fairly stiff but not enough to blow any sand or affect yor lines. Somewhere in between feeding the blowfish I managed two shorts. I've caught a few blowfish on a 6/0 hook but if you're going for them you would probably use something small like a number 1 hook.
Fluke season starts this Saturday with a 5 fish limit at 17.5 inches. There have been some nice ones caught this week by accident. Don

Fishing NewsWas on the beach early but still nothing for me but shorts. Just when I thought the fish couldn't get any smaller I pulled in a little blowfish, time to leave. Poppy Bill pulled up near me and within 5 minutes he had a 36 incher. AS much as I'm tired of looking at him here's his fish. Don photo IMG_0447.jpeg

Fishing NewsGreat beach day, I was fishing in a bathing suit. Went down the beach and couldn't believe the hole in front of the judges shack had nobody in it. All I got were three shorts up to 27 inches. The people I could see north and south of me were getting bluefish on bunker. Other people told me they were getting a lot of skates but I didn't see any.
