The Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association reports some decent catches of bluefish and sea bass despite recent bad weather.
Captain Adam Nowalsky of the “Karen Ann” out of Great Bay Marina reports sea bass are moving onto the local wrecks with some jumbos up to 4-pounds being caught.
He has also heard of some large weakies in the back creeks of Great Bay. Captain Fran Verdi on “Fish the Drop Off” had Patrick Souders and Alex Bayer out last week and did well trolling for bluefish in Great Bay.

The best action was on the outgoing tide on blues in the 8-10 pound class. Another trip with Bert Saum, Sean Carey, and Chris Flowers only produced one bluefish along with plenty of dogfish.

Hi Guys & Gals.
yesterday the surf was kicking real hard, not holding with 1 a 10 oz sinker, oppppppppps ! time to stay home .
This morning the surf is just barely holding with an 8 oz sinker, the ocean is dirty and it’s windy and a bit chilly by the ocean.
Ocean Temp is 53 degrees this morning .

THIS AFTERNOON
NE WINDS 5 TO 10 KT...BECOMING E 15 TO 20 KT WITH GUSTS UP TO 25 KT. SEAS 2 TO 4 FT.

TONIGHT
E WINDS 20 TO 25 KT...INCREASING TO 25 TO 30 KT AFTER MIDNIGHT. GUSTS UP TO 35 KT. SEAS 4 TO 7 FT...BUILDING TO 7 TO 10 FT AFTER MIDNIGHT.

I was told that a nice Keeper Bass was caught early this morning in the bay behind IBSP on a buck tail, I was told in the 15-20 lb range..
Guys it is what it is, We are not doing that well this spring run, those who are catching stripers are the one’s that has the time to put in to fishing, unfortunately we all don’t have the time or the money to spend on gas, I honestly do believe that all hell will break lose sooner or later.
What we need in my opinion is the bunker boats to come back , We have way to much bunker around, these Stripers as well as the bluefish are just staying with the bunker, This is just my opinion.
Jess caught a 19” fluke from the surf this morning which was released.
Fluke season opens in 13 day May 24th, to be honest with you all, I think in spite of the new size regulations which is 18” it’s looking pretty good, I have heard of a good number of fluke being caught and released up to 22” from the surf which is very rare these days , Sooooo lets hope it keeps up.
Bay fishing seems to be heating up in our local area, a lot of catches are being hush hush, but anglers do talk to me in any event.
