The weatherman kept the beach empty today. The people who were there found no rain but I did hit a little coming back over the bridge.
Fluke and blackfish in the inlet and small blues up the beach on bait. Not much boat traffic in the inlet but still a few idiots who have to drift near the rocks. Don

Actually saw some signs of life in the water today. Where I was bluefish came up on bait twice about an hour apart. They started just out of reach and went out but it's a good sign just seeing them break water.
Other than that saw a few fluke and two keepers. Don

Beach 8-9-10
Drove from area 7 to the jetty today an hour after low tide. No way you're gonna get past 12, 17 and 18 at high tide, the water is up to the dunes. The rest of the beach isn't bad but a lot of places only have room for one set of tracks.
Fishing is the same with fluke in the inlet, around the back and right off the beach. Don

SOS 8-5-10
I'd like to write something better but it's the same old thing for July and August. Lots of fluke around but keepers are hard to find, sharks at night for those who like playing with big teeth in the dark, and some nice sized blackfish off the rocks.
The mullet and snappers should be coming out in about five weeks so things should pick up then.
There have been schools of small bluefish around but unless you're there when they pop up you won't see them. Just watch the water while you're driving. With areas 12 to 17 closed it's hard to drive the beach looking for fish at high tide. Don
